About L@tE

L@tE is a collaborative opportunity, provided at grassroots level, to address people’s concerns in situations where climate change will have a direct effect on everyday life.

It aims to record people’s actions in response to these concerns, with reference to the specific characteristics of localities and the meeting of water and land.

It aims to invite people to respond creatively to environmental problems, which have been brought about by our social developmental unsustainability, industrial society and modern global economics.

It aims to address a perceived complacency through interaction, offering a response to the current socio-political system’s failure to engender democratic engagement, and gives individuals an alternative medium through which they can articulate an independent voice.

L@tE is concerned with the edge in a broader sense, exploring different dimensions of this concept, expanded from humanity’s direct interaction with nature.

L@tE Dimensions x3

1- Living at the Edge of the Physical Environment:

In terms of geography. Experiences of the transition points between land and water. Trends in change of climate, flood and drought events.

2- Living at the Edge of Time:

Awareness of history informing aspirations. The moment we are present within. Between these two. Running out of fossil fuel time. Being conscious of our mortality. How that affects the time-horizons we plan for.

3- Living at the Edge of Reason:

Is there too much complacency? Do we know how to respond to ignorance? Whose responsibility is environmental sustainability? How to find balance out of chaos.
